Upcoming AGB National Conference Focuses on Changing Business Models, Good Governance, Quality, Technology, Financial Aid

WASHINGTON--()--More than 1,200 higher education leaders representing nearly 275 colleges and universities across the globe will meet in San Francisco next week [April 21-23] for the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) annual conference. The conference is the only gathering in the U.S. aimed directly at higher education boards and leadership.

“At this year’s conference we will look at the big ideas and emerging trends that are transforming higher education and the responsibility of governing boards, together with institution heads, to lead that change,” said Rick Legon, CEO of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. “We believe sharing these advances in education is integral in continuing to raise the bar for institutions across the world.”

The conference, being held at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, will feature provocative talks led by internationally recognized thought leaders, including university presidents, board officers and authors. Spanning over three days and 40 workshops, panels will cover a variety of topics in higher education such as technology, quality of education, gay rights, global competition, fiscal pressures and risk assessment. The conference grasps the big ideas and emerging trends that are transforming higher education and the responsibility of governing boards, together with institutional leaders, to lead effectively.

The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges is the only national association that serves the interests and needs of academic governing boards, boards of institutionally related foundations, campus CEOs, and other senior-level campus administrators on issues related to higher education governance and leadership. Some 1,000 presidents, board leaders, and senior staff from more than 400 colleges, universities, institutionally related foundations, higher education associations, and sponsor organizations will attend the conference.
