OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oklahoma Virtual High School (OKVHS) students and their parents from across the state will gather Saturday, April 20, at Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City for iConnect 2013, where many will meet in person for the first time. Approximately 60 families of current students, as well as new students enrolled for the 2013-14 school year, are expected to attend.
OKVHS student ambassadors will welcome, guide and interact with their fellow students and will facilitate ice breakers and team-building activities like working together to raise a helium stick and constructing a tower using marshmallows and spaghetti. In addition, honor roll students and graduating seniors will be recognized. Parents will meet teachers, as well as hear from Kay Walck, Advanced Academics counseling manager, and other parents who will share best practices for supporting their online learner.
“We created iConnect to help strengthen friendships students have formed with classmates online, recognize outstanding academic achievement and allow parents to connect with teachers, counseling staff and parents of other online students,” said Amber Dunn, student services director. “We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response that students and their parents have had to iConnect and hope to make it an annual event.”
