PASADENA, Calif.--()--Jim Noble, senior vice president and chief financial officer at Huntington Memorial Hospital, has been promoted to executive vice president, chief operating officer/chief financial officer, hospital CEO Steve Ralph announced today. In his new role Noble is responsible for oversight of all of the hospital’s acute operations plus information technology, finance, ambulatory services and physician strategies.

In naming Noble the hospital’s executive vice president, Ralph has tapped a proven leader with more than two decades of experience in healthcare finance and operations, the last nine of which heading business services and finance for Huntington Hospital. The opening of the hospital’s west tower and the expansion of the San Gabriel Valley’s only trauma center have both occurred on Noble’s watch.

“Under Jim’s leadership we have continued to launch new programs and services to better serve the community, while remaining on the sound financial footing necessary to compete as an independent, freestanding hospital,” said Ralph. “Making sure that Huntington Hospital’s leadership is structured appropriately to meet the new realities brought about by healthcare reform helps ensure that we will continue to serve our community well in the months and years ahead while remaining true to our not-for-profit heritage.”

According to Noble the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and other environmental changes provides new challenges and opportunities for the 120-year-old hospital, such as “forging new partnerships and introducing new programs to enhance quality care and access.” Most important, says Noble, the hospital’s efforts “will continue to focus on enriching the patient experience in every facet of the hospital. That includes not only excelling in clinical care but in enhancing our organizational culture so all of our patients and their families feel the Huntington difference.”

Before joining Huntington Hospital, Noble was the CFO at Anaheim Memorial Hospital where he also held oversight responsibility for several critical functions within MemorialCare Health System, a five-hospital system based in Long Beach. Prior to his work at Anaheim Memorial, Noble worked for Catholic Healthcare West in Pasadena. Noble is an undergraduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, served several years as an officer in the Navy, and received his master's degree from USC with an emphasis in finance and accounting.

Huntington Memorial Hospital is a 625-bed not-for-profit hospital that is home to the only Level II trauma center in the San Gabriel Valley. In addition to being granted Magnet® status in 2011, Huntington Hospital has been ranked nationally by U.S. News and World Report in two specialties and was named the eighth best hospital in California. Renowned for its programs in neurosciences, cardiovascular services and cancer care, Huntington Hospital is an active teaching hospital with graduate medical education programs in internal medicine and general surgery. Consistent with its mission the hospital provides millions of dollars annually in charity care, benefits for vulnerable populations, health research, education and training, and support programs that may otherwise be absent from the community.
