Google, Microsoft, LG, Panasonic and Samsung to Exhibit at CES on the Hill

Major name companies join startup companies at technology showcase for DC policymakers

WHAT:

CES on the Hill, produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, occurs at the nation’s capital on Tuesday, April 16 to highlight innovation and provide policymakers the opportunity to interact with technology companies and products that are revolutionizing daily life. This invitation-only event brings together members of Congress, key Hill staff and top media to see first-hand the influence these technologies have in driving some of the most critical, current technology policy debates including intellectual property and consumers’ fair use rights, privacy, secure access to health care services, wireless spectrum allocation, e-cycling and safe driving.
 
Companies were selected to exhibit based on their product’s connection to today’s most pressing tech policy issues. Attendees will get rare hands-on demonstrations of Ultra HD and new technologies for medical solutions, electronics recycling, energy efficiency and more. Selected CES on the Hill exhibitors and technologies include:

  • Google Chromebooks and Chrome OS deliver a computing experience that is faster, easier and more secure
  • HealthSpot – Promoting the HealthSpot Station which enables patient access to medical diagnostics from board certified doctors via high-definition video conferencing and interactive, digital medical devices
  • HTCThe new HTC One will show the world’s first zero-gap full metal unibody design and more than 300 new features
  • Intel Corp. Showing its mobile collaborative model, a mobile medical device used by physicians
  • LG Electronics USA Ushering in a new era in home entertainment, the LG 84-inch Ultra HD set, with 8 million pixels, four times Full HD resolution
  • Livio The FM Connect system allows FM broadcasters to have two-way communication with listeners in the car using connected smartphones
  • Microsoft Corp.Showcasing integrated technology of Xbox with Kinect, Surface Pro, Windows 8 laptops and Windows 8 phones
  • PanasonicSmart Viera TVs with My Home Screen, Swipe & Share 2.0, Touch Pen, voice guidance and voice interaction, plus bone conduction headphones and 20-inch 4k tablet
  • Pandora Internet Radio – Brings the Music Genome Project to life on more than 1,000 connected devices
  • QualcommShowcasing cutting edge wireless technology enabled by Snapdragon processors, plus wireless solutions to improve health care and education
  • Samsung Electronics Bringing Series 8000 LED Smart TV and Samsung For Enterprise (SAFE) mobile security built into the Samsung Galaxy mobile phones and tablet
  • UltraViolet – Free, cloud-based digital rights collection that gives greater flexibility with how and where consumers watch purchased movies and TV shows
  • VerizonDisplaying how its advanced technology delivers powerful solutions to some of society’s most pressing problems in healthcare and public safety
  • VOXX International Corp. – Car Connection telematics OBD and Klipsch advance home and personal audio

New for this year, CES on the Hill will include a dedicated Eureka Park showcase area for exhibitors like those at the Eureka Park TechZone at the 2013 International CES®. CES on the Hill Eureka Park exhibitors highlighting some of the hottest startups and entrepreneurs include:

  • Aereo – Internet-based broadcast streaming service that allows subscribers to view live as well as time-shifted streams of over-the-air television
  • AWARE Technologies – Vehicle Alert Transmitter broadcasts a warning message over ordinary car radios when an emergency vehicle is approaching increasing the response time of drivers and allowing them to pull over safely
  • Dock-n-Lock – A safe driving system to prevent dangerous texting and talking while driving. Installs like a breathalyzer and requires the driver to “dock and lock” the phone before starting the vehicle
  • FutureDash – EnergyBuddy Home Energy Monitoring System provides real-time feedback of electrical energy consumption through vivid dashboard displays on smartphones, tablets and computers
  • Phone2ActionMobile advocacy platform helps organizations and candidates acquire and engage supports
  • SubPac – A low frequency tactile audio technology transfers low frequencies directly to the body and provides a new physical dimension to the music experience
  • Troop ID – A digital identification product that provides reputable organizations with a secure digital channel to provide benefits, services and skill training opportunities to service members, veterans and their families without fear of fraud

Also, the ninth annual CEA Digital Patriots Dinner, scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, will honor Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), Congressmen Jared Polis (D-CO) and Greg Walden (R-OR) and DISH Network CEO Joseph Clayton for their support of tech innovation.

*Proceeds from the Digital Patriots Dinner will be donated to Bright Beginnings and the CEA Foundation. Bright Beginnings is a nationally-accredited child and family development center that provides comprehensive educational, therapeutic, health and family service programs for homeless families with young children. The CEA Foundation is a national foundation with the mission to link seniors and people with disabilities with technologies to enhance their lives. Focused on strategic support of programs to impact these communities, the foundation launched its first series of grants in 2012.
