BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--Already known for its distinguishing message of positivity, athletic wear company Power Force Apparel, announced today that wounded war veteran, Sergeant Noah Galloway, will serve as the brand’s head spokesperson. Galloway, a Birmingham native turned infantry soldier, fought in the US-led coalition “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and its initial strike on Iraq in 2003. Following a brief leave, Galloway was deployed for his second tour to Iraq in September 2005, where after just three months, would suffer a life-changing event.

On December 19, 2005, Noah lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonation in Yusafiah, Iraq. After emergency surgery leaving him unconscious for five days, Noah woke up on Christmas Eve to discover the magnitude of his injuries including those also sustained to his jaw and remaining leg.

Post-casualty, Noah endured a time of hardship, battling severe depression and the challenge of learning to function without two of his limbs. It was during this time that Noah began to recognize the significance of his inner strength. “I had to look in the mirror and just take in everything that had happened. I realized that along with the acceptance of my injury came my ability to recognize myself as an ordinary person who was capable of extraordinary things.” Since his recovery, Noah has participated in a litany of extreme obstacle courses including: two “Warrior Dash” events, a “Barbarian Challenge,” an intense 10-12 mile British Special Forces-designed obstacle course challenging every aspect of a person’s mental, physical, and teamwork strength, all while raising money for the wounded warrior project; three “Tough Mudder” competitions, and finally completing the “Bataan Memorial Death March” commemorating the service members who defended the Philippine islands during WWII. Inspired to continue his legacy, Noah plans to complete “The Heroes Project” climb at Carstensz Pyramid—one of the seven summits of the world—within 2013.

Power Force CEO, Guy Savage, was introduced to Noah during a visit to the Lakeshore Foundation where he was inspired by the facility’s mission to transform people’s disabilities into strength and motivation. After spending some time together, Savage and Galloway knew a partnership was the perfect fit. “Together, Noah and Power Force have boundless opportunities. I am thrilled to have the chance to personally interact with and help Noah, a true hero, accomplish his goals and dreams. His character and resilience so accurately embody what our brand stands for – that with a firm believe in yourself and some discipline, you truly have the power to accomplish anything!” says Savage.

Speaking about the parallels in his own life and the Power Force message, Galloway says, “I was asked how I see myself and what I believe in, my answer is this: I look at my own personal life and know that I am not a professional athlete. I will never be able to compete against those who are considered professional athletes. But I can, and always will, push myself to my own limits, breaking personal goals as often as I can.” Galloway continues, “Reaching out to everyday people is something I enjoy doing and believe in. There are those with amazing talents that we as spectators enjoy watching as they display their feats of strength, power and speed. But, we must appreciate and never underestimate our own inner power. It's everyday people that I am interested in, because, I am one of them.”
