Transplace Mexico Achieves C-TPAT Certification

DALLAS--()--Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, today announced that Transplace Mexico has received Custom-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification for supply chain security. C-TPAT is a voluntary program established by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to build cooperative relationships that strengthen and improve international supply chain and U.S. border security. The certification for Transplace Mexico is the second for the company, and complements the C-TPAT certification earned by Transplace International in 2008.

Established in 2001, C-TPAT is the first worldwide supply chain security initiative where participating organizations in all sectors of the supply chain fully cooperate with U.S. Customs to establish acceptable security practices throughout their entire supply chain operations. Eligible companies must submit a detailed application and conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of their supply chain security procedures using the C-TPAT guidelines developed by the CBP and the community for each specific trade category.

Participation in the program provides companies with the assurance of a safe, secure and expeditious supply chain, benefiting their employees, internal operations, suppliers and customers. C-TPAT members benefit directly by reducing the number of physical inspections and documentation reviews when crossing borders, helping to dramatically decrease the time required when passing through customs. Obtaining C-TPAT certification offers businesses an opportunity to take an active role in improving national security.

"Transplace Mexico is very serious about customs compliance and security, which is why we pursued the C-TPAT certification,” said Transplace Mexico Managing Director Jose Minarro. “We understand the value the certification brings to our customers, and it supports Transplace’s goals of sound security practices and procedures. It also shows Transplace’s contribution to secure borders and international trade, and is an important milestone as we continue expanding cross-border and intra-Mexico services.”
