COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mortar manufacturers can now improve the rheological properties and environmental profile of their products at the same time with the Axilat™ RH 8100 family of bio-based xanthan gums from Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. (“MSC” or the “Company”).
Produced by a unique, patented process of bacterial fermentation in a vegetable-based medium, the new Axilat RH 8100 range of additives is 100 percent bio-based. In addition, Axilat RH 8100 products provide enhanced viscosifying effects, enabling dosage rate reduction for more cost-effective mortar formulations. When compared to the standard grade of xanthan gum, Axilat RH 8100 products have exhibited viscosity increases of up to 30 percent.
Three Axilat RH 8100 product options are available so manufacturers can fine-tune mortar viscosity. Axilat RH 8123 additive is a multi-purpose product suitable for most cement and gypsum applications. Axilat RH 8123 G additive is for applications requiring an immediate and strong viscosifying effect. Axilat RH 8150 P additive delivers a delayed thickening effect for better control and longer open time.
