STEER: Ensuring the Energy and Economic Future of South Texas

South Texas Energy and Economic Roundtable officially opens doors in South Texas, launches STEER.com

SAN ANTONIO--()--The South Texas Energy and Economic Roundtable (STEER), serving the Eagle Ford Shale region in South Texas, opened its offices in nearby San Antonio today, as the most comprehensive Eagle Ford Shale resource in the region.

The organization, headed by experienced industry leader, Omar Garcia, serves as the facilitator and coordinator for communication, education and public advocacy surrounding the production of energy resources in South Texas. As the premier oil and natural gas resource for the Eagle Ford Shale region, STEER aims to ensure that activities and advancements in the industry are responsibly addressed by positively guiding the energy sector and economic development progress in communities throughout South Texas.

“It is an unprecedented time for this region,” says STEER President Omar Garcia. “At STEER, we know that positive growth and development depend on collaboration, active dialogue and continued education among the various stakeholders both involved in, and impacted by, the oil and gas industry. STEER will serve as the conduit between the industry, government, academia and local communities to ensure that communication and progress takes place in a productive manner.”

“The Eagle Ford Shale is bringing such great opportunity and economic development to Bexar County and the whole of South Texas, so I applaud the efforts of the oil and natural gas industry to create STEER,” says Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff. “As shale exploration continues, I know STEER will play a vital role in making sure communities have open lines of communication with their legislators and the oil and gas companies.”

STEER was founded by 11 of the largest oil and gas operators in the Eagle Ford Shale region in South Texas who recognized the need to maintain a cohesive and collaborative effort surrounding the exploration of the shale. The operators developed STEER to be the guiding liaison between the South Texas communities and the industry.

“STEER is going to be a tremendously helpful resource and advocate for South Texas as it relates to the Eagle Ford Shale,” says Karnes County Judge Barbara Najvar Shaw. “It is great to see STEER already present in the community. We look forward to their continued work in bridging communities with the oil and natural gas industry so that we can prosper together.”

In an effort to remain close to the Eagle Force Shale region, STEER will be based in San Antonio and will office at the Pearl complex, joining tenants such as The Nature Conservancy and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
