RS Investments Announces New Leadership to Drive Emerging Markets Strategy

Michael Reynal and Team Assume Management of RS Investments Emerging Markets Fund and RS Greater China Fund

SAN FRANCISCO--()--RS Investments (“RS”), a San Francisco-based investment management firm, today announced that Michael Reynal, a 20-year veteran emerging markets portfolio manager, has assumed management of the RS Emerging Markets Fund and the RS Greater China Fund. Mr. Reynal and the team are located in key financial centers, including the U.S., London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

“We’re excited because RS provides us with the support and flexibility necessary to be agile in today’s market,” said Mr. Reynal. “Our process combines fundamental research, analytical tools and a boots-on-the-ground approach that we believe will drive strong value for investors.” Mr. Reynal and his 11-member team, who joined RS Investments in November 2012, leverage proprietary models—built in-house—to support their disciplined approach to stock selection.

“Capacity can be hard to find in this key asset class,” said Phil Eichinger, head of retail sales at RS Investments. “With an experienced team at the helm, we are able to help our financial advisors and their clients realize their investment goals in this growth space.”

Tom Neukranz, head of institutional sales at RS Investments, added, “For institutional investors, one of the most appealing attributes of their process is the controls they have in place for market and country risk, which make stock selection the key to portfolio performance.”

“We have worked diligently over the last year to enhance our capabilities to fit our clients' evolving investment needs and the new emerging markets team allows us to further strengthen our core strategy,” said Matthew Scanlan, CEO of RS Investments. “We look forward to leveraging the team’s expertise and knowledge across the company as we continue to reinforce our investment solutions.”

Previously, Mr. Reynal was a portfolio manager for Principal Global Investors, where he led the emerging markets team. He has spent his career focusing on international equity investments at Wafra Investment Advisory Group, Inc., Paribas Capital Markets and Barclays de Zoete Wedd in London.
