Lilly & Associates Releases "Panama’s Colon Free Zone: Challenges and Opportunities of a Logistics Hub" White Paper

Global Freight Forwarding Company Releases Study on Panama as a Logistics and Distribution Hub

MIAMI--()--As shippers gear up for the Panama Canal expansion and the global supply chain implications the enlargement brings with it, Lilly & Associates International has released its newest white paper, “Panama’s Colon Free Zone: Challenges and Opportunities of a Logistics Hub” to help shippers decide whether Panama distribution is a fit for their transportation needs. The paper explores Panama’s unique geography, political and economic climate, infrastructure, economic fundamentals, labor force trends and laws and international trends.

“Our customers are continually trying to find ways to optimize their supply chain. This research is based upon the questions we have been hearing from our customers when trying to decide if a Panama hub can be beneficial to the shipper’s supply chain,” said Lilly & Associates International Business Development Manager Nelson R. Cabrera.

Lilly & Associates International, is no stranger to the subject, the Miami based freight-forwarder has found a niche in Latin American distribution. With a 100,000 square foot warehouse in the Colon Free Zone, the company has coordinated global distribution direct to Colon and coordinates with its global offices to have a complete Latin American distribution for their customers.

“As shippers continue to optimize their supply chains, many are discussing the plausibility of Panama as a warehousing and distribution hub,” said Cabrera. “Although a Panama hub might not be ideal for every company, I have witnessed ocean freight import rated into Panama from China, along with exports from Panama into Latin America and the Caribbean, average 30 percent less as compared with the United States as an origin or destination.”

The paper is available for download at the following link.
