Key Highlights

Kay Bailey Hutchison served as Senator of Texas from 1993 to 2012, and is the first—and only—woman elected to represent Texas in the United States Senate. Senator Hutchison has been a passionate and commanding force in American politics, and by the time she retired, she was the Senate’s highest-ranking Republican female and had been the fourth-highest ranking Republican senator. Senator Hutchison was most recently the Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and the Appropriations Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice, and Science. She has been Chairman of the Military Construction Appropriations Sub-Committee and served on the Defense Appropriations Sub-Committee.

Dr. Yossi Sheffi is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he serves as director of the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL). He is an expert in systems optimization, risk analysis, and supply chain management, and has consulted with governments and leading manufacturing, retail and transportation enterprises all over the world and as well as founded several successful companies. Dr. Sheffi will discuss the phenomenon of logistics clusters, which he covered in his book “Logistics Clusters: Delivering Value and Driving Growth.”

Marci Rossell, PhD is a groundbreaking financial journalist and former chief economist for CNBC who electrifies audiences nationwide, speaking on the nexus of economics, politics, culture, and the media. Known for her animated style, Rossell takes complex economic issues and makes them relevant to people's lives, families, and careers. Having served as corporate economist and investment spokesperson for OppenheimerFunds, as well as an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, she brings a world of experience – from Main Street to Wall Street –when discussing the US economy, international events, and movements in capital markets.

Del Monte Chief Operating Officer, Nils Lommerin will discuss “Enriching Lives for 115 Years: How Del Monte Foods Keeps Growing” and will highlight how Del Monte continues to remain a leading consumer packaged goods company. Mr. Lommerin has been with Del Monte for 10 years and has also held several executive and human resources positions at Oxford Health Plans, Inc., PepsiCo, Inc. and Kraft Foods Inc.

Dal-Tile Director of Transportation Sonney Jones and Transplace Mexico Country Director Ben Enriquez will present their 2012 CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation Award™ winning case study on Dal-Tile’s efforts to consolidate its high-density freight with low-density freight from Whirlpool Corporation, Convermex and Werner Co. to reduce transportation resources, cost and environmental impact.
