FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fujitsu Frontech North America, Inc., a leader in innovative technology and front-end solutions, today announced that Hermosillo, Mexico-based Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) www.cfe.gob.mx, has awarded the CFE public bid to Lopez y Fernandez Ingenieria S.A., including the Fujitsu F50 bill dispensing units required by CFE. The F50 was the winner based on compliance with the technical specification, pricing and country of origin requirements in the public bid. The F50 bill dispensing unit will be integrated into more than 1,000 CFE self-service utility bill payment kiosks, called CFEmaticos. CFE, Mexico’s exclusive public provider of electrical power and ranked #14 In Latin Trade Magazine’s Latin 500, is owned by the Mexican government and generates, distributes and markets electric power to nearly 100 million users in Mexico.
The F50 bill dispensing unit, designed especially for the OEM channel, is a high-volume, single-denomination currency dispenser designed for integration into a number of applications and verticals. “We are extremely proud to be selected as a currency handling vendor for the CFEmaticos program by such a prestigious customer,” according to Randy Fox, senior director, currency handling and identity product solutions, Fujitsu Frontech North America, Inc. “CFE is a major rollout in Mexico and our first win with our Hermosillo, Mexico-based channel partner, Lopez y Fernandez Ingenieria S.A. The win validates our currency handling solutions strategy and commitment to the Latin American market. The F50 bill dispensing unit will provide CFE with real value-added features and functions that will enable them to expand their business while improving customer service.”
The market-tested Fujitsu F50 is an affordable, single-denomination cash dispenser unit that can reliably support up to 1,000 notes. It currently supports over 50 of the world’s top currencies, including the Mexican Peso and US Dollar, and can support both mixed new and used, and paper and polymer notes. “Due to the sensitive application of these self-service payment kiosks, partnering with a vendor that can provide reliable cash handling is extremely important. Because the CFEmaticos is self-service, it must work every time,” according to a spokesperson at CFE-CENADECO. “Fujitsu Frontech’s F50 won the CFE public bid because it met all of the bid criteria, while outperforming other competitors. We evaluated several currency handling vendors and time and time again were impressed with the reliability of the Fujitsu F50.”
CFE began the rollout of their automated bill payment kiosks, including the F50 bill dispensing unit, to nearly 500 locations in December 2012. The kiosks will be deployed in CFE branches throughout the entire country of Mexico. Self-service bill payment kiosks, particularly for utility payments, are becoming more and more popular in certain markets as a way to complement staffed locations, provide better customer service and lower overall costs.
Fujitsu’s family of OEM currency handling products have the quality, reliability and advanced feature functionality required to offer true value-add and control the up-front design and recurring product support/maintenance cost. Fujitsu offers OEM currency dispensers like the F50, F53, F56, F400, F510, and bulk currency acceptors and currency recyclers like the G610/611 and G60, for a wide range of budget, volume and configuration requirements.
