SUDBURY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Workforce50.com, the popular career website that has been publishing information and resources for the more experienced, mid to late career unemployed or transitioning worker, has been acquired by Prancing Dog Publications LLC (PDP) of Sudbury, MA, a startup venture launched by Nancy Peterson, Publisher. The website, workforce50.com, was first launched in 2007 by NHC Group, Inc., a technology company in the business of managing career websites since 1998. Ms. Peterson was both one of the founders of NHC Group, Inc. and lead developers of Workforce50.com. She eventually became the Editor, a position she held until September 2012.
In addition to providing current job listings, Workforce50.com has been dedicated to assisting the older workforce with employment issues and career transition for the past five years. The issues that older job seekers encounter later in their lives and careers are quite different than those encountered by the younger generations. The website encourages its readership with their own job searches and career transitions, provides thought-provoking information and resources, and advocates for employers to integrate qualified older workers into their own workforces.
Going forward, the website will provide more direct information on what to do when you first become unemployed and how to set a direction for yourself. Ms. Peterson is interested in getting back to the nuts and bolts topics of the newly unemployed. “While sudden job loss is terrifying for anyone, when a boomer or senior suddenly becomes unemployed, there can be so many more issues to consider than just updating your resume,” she says. She also notes that other changes are planned that will make the website more pragmatic for users.
