LAS VEGAS--()--The Mobile500 Alliance will showcase live television for iPads and iPhones using its MyDTV application at International CES 2013 in Las Vegas. The Alliance is previewing features available in the Seattle and Minneapolis markets in January. The MyDTV application features live recording of television to the device, closed captioning, fully integrated social media, and an electronic program guide.

MyDTV is an inexpensive option for consumers who depend upon their mobile devices for ever greater services,” said Colleen Brown, chair of the Mobile500 Alliance board of directors and president and CEO of Fisher Communications. “It’s hard to beat broadcast television delivered to your mobile device everywhere in your market. This makes broadcast television truly portable.”

Participating in the soft consumer launch will be several prominent national advertisers as well as the previously announced measurement companies, Rentrak and Nielsen. The national advertisers will be the first to participate in this unique opportunity to reach consumers in an innovative way. As part of the soft consumer launch, measurement companies will evaluate viewers habits and record demographics.

John M. Lawson, executive director of the Mobile500 Alliance, added, “MyDTV delivers a good viewing experience at a great value for the consumer. The mobile DTV solution will bring television signals to limitless devices simultaneously decreasing the burden on already constrained cellular services.”

For a one-time investment in a mobile receiver that connects to an existing mobile device, consumers will be able to receive television programming which includes local news and weather without impacting their cellular data plans to view.

The demonstration at CES will be held at the Mobile500 Alliance booth #14239 in Central Hall on January 9-11, 2013. For booth location go to: http://www.cesweb.org/Show-Floor/By-Exhibit-Halls.aspx, click on “Floor plans,” and enter “Mobile500” into the search box.

The Mobile500 Alliance is also working closely with LG Electronics to develop the new Mobile Emergency Alert System (M-EAS). The system would use mobile DTV to deliver emergency messaging—for hurricanes, Amber alerts, tornados, tsunamis, and other natural or man-made disasters—to the public, even when the power grid is down and the cellular network is overloaded. For more information about this life-saving service, visit www.MobileEAS.org or see the M-EAS exhibit directly next to the Mobile500 Alliance booth.

The Mobile500 Alliance is made up of over 400 television stations from around the nation, all with the common goal of bringing broadcast television to consumers on their mobile devices. To develop MyDTV, the Alliance worked with Elgato, Expway, Broadcast Interactive Media and Accelerated Media. For more information, visit www.mobile500alliance.com.
