SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fluxion Biosciences announced today that it has launched its CytoFlux System for imaging cytometry and analysis at the American Society of Cell Biology annual conference in San Francisco. The system is now commercially available and will begin shipping to customers.
Until now, cell biologists were forced to choose between capturing large data sets using flow cytomtery or high-content analysis via high resolution image capture. The CytoFlux package combines these capabilities on one integrated platform providing cytometric analysis with high-resolution images of adherent or suspension cells. Cell biologists can now choose the analysis format that is right for their experiment. Because the system can be an addition to virtually any inverted microscope, the capability is surprisingly affordable.
The CytoFlux™ package comprises the following components:
BioFlux™ environmental control system: The BioFlux system provides a convenient microfluidic well plate format that enables imaging of cells under in vivo conditions where temperature, fluidic environment, gas composition, and shear are all precisely controlled. Cells can be analyzed under flow, static conditions, or using a newly introduced capability called “stop-flow imaging cytometry” which captures high resolution images of cells in suspension.
BioFlux Montage™ Software: Montage software includes hardware control for major microscope, camera, and automated stage vendors, as well as automated image capture and analysis modules for applications including cell movement, migration, rolling velocity, thrombus formation, and many others.
FCS Express™ 4 Image Cytometry from De Novo Software: Fully integrated into the BioFlux application suite, FCS Express combines the power and flexibility of flow cytometry data analysis with the enhanced information obtained from high resolution imaging. FCS Express allows the researcher to visualize data and analyze subsets using traditional flow cytometry gating strategies, while simultaneously viewing the high resolution images of the individual cells in the gates. This enables quantitative analysis of the multiparametric data derived from each cell combined with sophisticated reporting, batch processing and flexible analysis protocols all in an easy-to-use Microsoft Office style program.
The CytoFlux package can be added to any existing BioFlux 200 or BioFlux 1000 installation. The CytoFlux software package can also be packaged as an add-on to an additional microscope, or as a fully integrated solution with microscope and other components. CytoFlux is available for immediate purchase.
“The BioFlux system is the well-established industry standard for studying live cells under in vivo conditions”, stated Tom Driscoll, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Fluxion. “By taking advantage of the imaging capabilities of existing microscopes, cell biologists don’t have to compromise image quality or imaging methods to get world class cytometry data and analysis. We’ve integrated all that functionality into one system. Traditional flow cytometry is a powerful analysis tool, but it is limited to cells in suspension. CytoFlux applies that same powerful analysis capability to live, adherent cells.”
“De Novo Software believes that flow and image cytometry are converging and have great potential together. Image cytometry can benefit significantly from the advanced analysis tools developed for multi-parametric flow data,” said David Novo, President of De Novo Software. “FCS Express enables high-content analysis of image data for both research and screening. We have added features to FCS Express that make working with images simple and improve results. The combination of FCS Express with Fluxion’s BioFlux system creates a powerful new cell analysis platform.”
