WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sex, birth control, flirting, relationships, breakups, booty calls, crushes, hook ups, hot dates and solo sessions. They can all be digitally logged with the new overshare app now available on iOS and Android.
The first app of its kind, BootyLog was created by Bedsider—a free, online birth control support network for women 18-29. In the United States, six in 10 pregnancies to women age 20-24 are unplanned. BootyLog seeks to engage and educate this audience on birth control options. Both BootyLog and Bedsider are funded by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, a research-based, non-profit, non-partisan organization.
BootyLog is a digital black book that catalogs sexual encounters for young men and women hoping to talk honestly and anonymously about their experiences. The app allows users to create avatars for themselves and their partners, rate their experience (from meaningful to mystical to naughty) and declare the method of birth control they used. Users of BootyLog can share their experiences via microblogging to discuss sex and birth control. For those who are curious, the app also allows users to see what other incognito users are up to.
“By getting people to talk about sex—the good, the bad and the embarrassing—we think BootyLog will ultimately empower people to make healthier choices about sex and preventing unplanned pregnancies,” said Lawrence Swiader, senior director of Digital Media for The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. “BootyLog shows that sex can be fun and responsible.”
The BootyLog app is available for free download through the iTunes Store and Google Play. It is the second app produced by Bedsider and The National Campaign, following the release of Condom Pro, which has more than 30,000 downloads to date.
