CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation’s leading accounting and consulting organizations, today announced that Grand Rapids-based assurance director, Patricia Duperron has been appointed to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) State and Local Government Expert Panel. Ms. Duperron’s appointment is a one-year term. In this role, she will be responsible for identifying state and local government financial reporting and auditing issues and working with appropriate bodies for resolutions benefiting the public interest. This will include conducting liaison activities with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, regulators such as the U.S. General Accounting Office and the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and applicable industry associations. Ms. Duperron will also advise and assist in the development of AICPA products and services related to state and local government audits.

Ms. Duperron has 21 years of experience in public accounting and has worked extensively with townships, cities, counties, schools, and other governmental entities, as well as various businesses and nonprofit organizations. She also has vast experience with transit authorities, public utilities, airports, convention/arena authorities, biosolids authorities, governmental pension plans, and various tax increment financing authorities. At the local level, she led the GASB 34 Implementation Team and helped several governments with early implementation of GASB Statement No. 34. Ms. Duperron also has experience in federal programs and single audit compliance and chairs the Governmental Services Group in West Michigan.
Ms. Duperron is an active participant in the Michigan business community as a member of the Association of Government Accountants, Government Finance Officers Association and Michigan School Business Officials. She is also a member of the Michigan Department of Education’s A-133 Referent Group, which annually reviews and updates the Michigan School Auditing Manual. In addition to being a member of the AICPA, she is also a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Ms. Duperron received a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Michigan. She received a Certificate of Achievement from the AICPA for successful completion of the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Program.
