Global Knowledge Wins Two Silver CSTD Awards

Canada’s training leader wins in e-Learning category for Government of Alberta: Human Services and in Facilitated Learning category for PSP Investments

TORONTO--()--Global Knowledge, worldwide leader in IT, business, and leadership skills advancement, announced today that it has received two Silver Awards for Training Excellence by the Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD): one in the e-Learning category and one in the Facilitated Learning category.

CSTD is the largest association dedicated to training and HR development, and its highly coveted awards are judged on six criteria: needs analysis, learning objectives and evaluation, design, quality of material, impact, and originality.

Global Knowledge developed the Critical Thinking in Action e-Learning Program for Government of Alberta: Human Services to provide learners with an introduction to critical thinking: what it is and how to do it. The course was designed to expand and enhance the learner’s ability to apply critical thinking models and strategies that improve one’s ability to address decisions, problems, and dilemmas.

“The Critical Thinking in Action workforce development program for Alberta: Human Services is a perfect example of how and when to use e-Learning for sophisticated concepts and complex skills,” said Jocelyn Bérard, Global Knowledge Vice President, Leadership and Business Solutions International. “It also fundamentally supports key management practices, such as unbiased decision making and accountability.”

The Leaders of Talent Program, developed for the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), was designed to address some of the key leadership skills that people managers require to lead their teams successfully. The program combines six days of classroom training in areas such as performance management, communications, and active coaching, with on-the-job activities, job aids, and one-on-one coaching. It is offered to all people managers at PSP Investments, and participants receive a Certified Leader of Talent (CLT) designation.

“The solution for PSP Investments was collaboratively designed with a number of key ingredients for success: it was developed by conducting a thorough needs analysis assessment, and it was custom designed to meet the needs of the leaders in their environment,” said Bérard. “It was also effectively delivered and supported with coaching and support from the executive team.”
