MAXIMUS Awarded Five-year Disability Employment Services Contract by the Government of Australia

- Contract Expands the Company’s Support of Job Seekers with Disabilities -

RESTON, Va.--()--MAXIMUS (NYSE: MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, has been awarded a five-year performance-based contract with estimated revenue ranging between $125 million and $150 million (USD) to help individuals with permanent disabilities transition to sustainable employment and independence. The contract for the Disability Employment Services (DES) Employment Support Service (ESS) program was awarded to the Company’s Australian business unit by the Australian Department of Education, Employment, and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). The contract represents a significant expansion of the Company’s current work under the DES ESS program.

Under the newly expanded DES ESS contract, MAXIMUS will provide case management services to individuals with permanent disabilities through a coordinated approach that includes working directly with attending physicians, family members, employers, and other members of the community to help individuals transition to sustainable employment and independence. MAXIMUS will leverage more than 50 employment sites that the Company already operates across Australia. It will also open five new sites to deliver employment services and ongoing support for individuals who have permanent disabilities.

“This contract expansion demonstrates our proven track record in delivering outcomes that matter to our government clients. The Company has already placed 5,000 participants with disabilities in employment under a companion DES contract — achieving an average of more than four stars under the Australian Government’s most recent DES Star Ratings. The selection of MAXIMUS for the expanded DES ESS contract underscores our strong performance as well as our ongoing commitment to help DEEWR remain at the forefront of helping individuals with disabilities to find work that enables them to be independent,” commented MAXIMUS CEO Richard A. Montoni.

The Australian Government has been a pioneer in helping job seekers with disabilities obtain meaningful employment. In 2010, DEEWR launched a new and improved program to deliver more effective employment assistance for individuals with disabilities and streamline multiple programs into two clearly distinct programs, making assessment and referral processes less complex. The effort created the Disability Management Service (DMS) program that supports job seekers with disability, injury or health condition who require the assistance of a disability employment service, but are not expected to need long-term support in the workplace. It also created the ESS program that supports job seekers with permanent disability and an assessed need for more long-term, regular support in the workplace. MAXIMUS currently serves individuals with disabilities through both the DMS and ESS programs.
