NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--From their sewer lair to the streets of Manhattan, the world’s most famous heroes in a half shell are ready to save the day at the 86th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®. On Thursday, November 22nd, Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will delight millions of spectators aboard a new float in the Turkey Day procession.
“We are very excited to welcome the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the line-up this year, where a new generation of fans will enjoy their ninja moves and action-packed adventures,” said Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “This amazing float will be a dazzling experience for spectators who will have a front row seat for their Thanksgiving Day journey.”
“Millions of families around the country will come together for the annual tradition of watching Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and we couldn’t be more thrilled to once again partner with Macy’s to bring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to life,” said Pam Kaufman, chief marketing officer, Nickelodeon Group. “Our new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has really struck a chord with fans and this spectacular float will offer them an exciting Nickelodeon entertainment experience.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is based on four mutant turtles—Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo, who have been trained in the art of ninjutsu by their sensei, Splinter. Designed by the artists of Macy’s Parade Studio, the new float, unfolding with breathtaking ninja precision, will feature a spectacular dark cityscape including roof tops, fire escapes, window ledges and a zip line down telephone wires.
Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premiered on Sept. 29 and was an instant hit, drawing almost 12 million viewers during its premiere weekend. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series is funnier and “ninja-ier” than ever before. The action comedy explores the camaraderie of four teenage brothers learning to rely on one another as they unravel the mystery of their existence and train to become the heroes they’re destined to be. The series airs regularly on Saturdays at 11 a.m. on Nickelodeon.
The 86th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs nationwide on NBC-TV, on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 from 9 a.m. – noon in all time zones.
