Jenkins Community Celebrates Explosive 60 Percent Growth, Holds User Conference for Jenkins Developers

Jenkins Community to Hold its Second Annual San Francisco User Conference, Bringing Experts and Enthusiasts Together for an Invaluable Day of Learning and Networking

SAN FRANCISCO--()--The Jenkins Community, the community of developers using the Jenkins CI open source continuous integration (CI) server, today announced that over the past year active installations on the Jenkins platform have increased from 25,000 to more than 40,000 installations. The number of new plugins developed has also reached an average of one per day. To continue supporting this growth, The Jenkins Community will host its Second Annual Jenkins User Conference (JUC) on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, just prior to the start of JavaOne 2012.

The growth and the vibrancy of the Jenkins community underscores the value development teams are getting from Jenkins in their development processes. Jenkins CI is the leading open source CI server and provides more than 500 plugins to support building and testing virtually any Java-based project. The Jenkins User Conference is dedicated to expanding the skill sets of Jenkins developers to support the ongoing explosive growth of the Jenkins platform.

“The Jenkins Community has achieved a lot of milestones over this past year, including a growth rate of about 60 percent in active installations,” said Andrew Bayer, member of the Jenkins Governing Board. “Based on the success of our inaugural user conference last year, the Jenkins Governing Board was very enthusiastic about holding another Jenkins user event preceding JavaOne this year. The goal of JUC is to provide an affordable forum for Java developers to increase their expertise and usage of Jenkins as an Agile CI platform.”

Kohsuke Kawaguchi, Jenkins founder, and elite developer and architect at CloudBees, will once again deliver the JUC keynote address. “This is a great opportunity for Jenkins users to come together, meet and exchange best practices,” said Kawaguchi. “I always enjoy seeing Jenkins users connect with each other. We all continue to learn from the collective knowledge of the community. It is that spirit of sharing and community support that has made Jenkins such a popular choice for Agile development teams.”

Come join the growing Jenkins Community to share experiences and discuss best practices for building on-premise or cloud applications, plugins and much more. Speakers at JUC include Jenkins experts from Adobe, Cisco, Groupon, HP, Intel, jclouds, JFrog, Lookout, Netflix and Pivotal Labs.

Solution providers such as CloudBees, Cloudant, Confreaks, HP, Liferay, New Relic, SalesForce.com, Sauce Labs, SendGrid, Sonatype, WANdisco and ZeroTurnaround are sponsoring the conference. Yahoo! has provided corporate support. Jenkins developers can still register for the conference. To register, go to: http://www.cloudbees.com/jenkins-user-conference-2012-san-francisco.cb.

Other JUC conferences have been held throughout 2012 in Paris, New York, Herzelia, Tokyo and now San Francisco.
