NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--inovia, the leading foreign filing platform provider, has been granted patent protection by the Japanese Patent Office for the technology behind its European patent validation service, which is offered through the inovia.com platform. Japan joins the patent offices of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa who have already granted inovia patent protection for its powerful technology solution focused on automating the European patent validation process.
inovia’s foreign filing platform has been recognized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) as a notable invention, has a global network of agents in more than eighty countries, and has coordinated more than 20,000 foreign patent filings totaling more than $50 million to date. The global instruction platform has become so popular it ranked third in the world and first in the United States among PCT filing firms, according to annual rankings by Managing Intellectual Property magazine.
The granted patent, Japanese patent number 2008-509268 and WIPO international application number PCT/AU2006/000582, marks another significant milestone in the company’s 10-year history.
“Japan has a reputation for being one of the toughest countries to award patents, so we’re proud that our European validation technology has been recognized as an important innovation for the Japanese market,” shared Justin Simpson, inovia Founder and Patent Attorney.
Demand for outsourced IP solutions increases year-over-year. According to the annual report, The 2012 U.S. Global Patent & IP Trends Indicator, there was a 300 percent increase in organizations outsourcing foreign patent filing in the 2012 study, demonstrating that patent holders are being more strategic about their approach to foreign filing with an eye for keeping IP costs low.
