SAN FRANCISCO--()--Maveron LLC, a consumer-only venture capital firm with offices in Seattle and San Francisco, today announced that it has hired David Wu as a Venture Partner in its San Francisco office. An entrepreneur and well-known angel investor, Wu will join Maveron’s San Francisco office to help identify emerging consumer Internet companies with the potential to become global leaders.

“Maveron’s mission has always been to partner with world-class entrepreneurs to build extraordinary consumer companies, and David lives by the same ethos,” said Dan Levitan, co-founder and partner at Maveron. “He has walked in the entrepreneur’s shoes and brings extensive strategic and operating experience from his years of working with startups; we welcome him to the Maveron team.”

Wu is an active angel investor and successful entrepreneur, with strong ties to the Silicon Valley entrepreneurial community. He has invested in over a dozen Internet startups, including Practice Fusion, Sociable Labs, Postmates, Beautylish, and Taulia. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Line2 and SeatMe. Previously, Wu helped create Homestead.com, where he was chief product officer, COO and CFO, and grew the company to over 400,000 paying subscribers and its eventual acquisition by Intuit. He continued to work for Intuit, where he was a Vice President in the Small Business Group and managed a variety of businesses including QuickBooks Online and Intuit.com. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University.

“Maveron is one of the only venture firms that truly ‘gets’ the entrepreneur mindset, and works hand-in-hand with founders to build world-class consumer companies,” said Wu. “I’m thrilled to join the team as a venture partner and look forward to jumping into the trenches to work with some of the best and brightest entrepreneurs.”
