DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/dk7r2l/telecoms_and_techn) has announced the addition of the "Telecoms and Technology Report Australia" report to their offering.
Australia has an extensive mobile-phone network, but a lack of investment in recent years has held back the country's development in the field of e-commerce. Australia's large land area and dispersed population make Internet connectivity a challenge, but the government is proceeding with the expensive National Broadband Network (NBN), which is designed to provide high-speed connections to more than 90% of the population.
Owing to the fact that the mobile-phone market is reaching saturation, revenue will be generated mainly by new features, such as web browsing. The Economist Intelligence Unit expects mobile-phone revenue to grow at an average rate of 4% a year in 2012-16.
Total information technology (IT) spending (consisting of expenditure on IT services, packaged software and hardware) reached an estimated US$42.5bn in 2011. The author's forecast that the sector will record steady but unspectacular growth in the forecast period, at 3.1% a year. This will represent a slowdown from average annual growth in spending of 4.4% in 2007-11, reflecting uncertainty surrounding the business and consumer environment.
