Research and Markets: Denmark Telecommunications Report Q1 2011

DUBLIN--()--Dublin - Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/xz5h2t/denmark_telecommun) has announced the addition of the "Denmark Telecommunications Report Q1 2011" report to their offering.

The Denmark Telecommunications Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, telecommunication associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Denmark's telecommunications industry.

Although previously published as an annual report, 2011 sees the introduction of a quarterly update on Denmark's Telecommunications market. This new report, for the first quarter of 2011, contains revised forecasts for the development of Denmark's mobile phone, broadband subscriber and fixed-line telephony sectors through to the end of 2015. The forecasts incorporate Q310 data published by Denmark's fixed line incumbent operator and the country's largest mobile operator TDC. In December 2010, it was reported that TDC's private equity owners had banked up to US$3.7bn through a share buyback.

The forecasts and analysis also include data published by Denmark's three other mobile operators, namely Telenor Denmark, which is owned by Norway's Telenor Group and Telia Denmark, which is owned by Sweden/Finland's TeliaSonera and Hutchison 3 Denmark, which is owned by Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa. The report also incorporates data published by Denmark's regulator, National IT and Telecom Agency (NITA, or IT- og Telestyrelsen). The latest regulatory data relates to the end of H110.

Based on data published by the country's mobile operators, BMI calculates that Denmark's mobile subscriber base shrank by 1.7% in 2010 to reach 6.7mn at the end of the year. The loss of customers during the year reflects moves by the sector's leading operators to deduct inactive prepaid customers from their networks. BMI believes that 2008 and 2009 saw an expansion in the number of inactive SIM cards as a result of a proliferation of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) within the sector.

Our latest forecast for Denmark's mobile market assumes that the resale/MVNO sector will fuel growth over the next few years. However, it also assumes that the market will see further moves by the operators to deduct inactive customers. Over the next five years, annual average growth of just 0.9% is envisaged.
