VIENNA, Austria--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On April 27, 2012, over 60 Austrian Cloud experts met at the EuroCloud Austria Brunch in Vienna. Top-class speakers, including Maurice van der Woude, Director of EuroCloud Europe, informed participants of the latest Cloud developments in Europe.
Maurice van der Woude, General Director at EuroCloud Europe, outlined the latest developments of the “European Cloud Partnership”, an initiative launched by EU Commissioner, Neelie Kroes. “EuroCloud is involved in dialogue with the European Commission with a view to establishing Cloud computing services in Europe. A key success factor for this is close cooperation with European Cloud providers, such as Fabasoft”, he explained.
Dr. Tobias Höllwarth, Manager of EuroCloud Austria, provided an overview, inter alia, of the “EuroCloud Star Audit” program, which enables Cloud providers such as Fabasoft to obtain an independent European quality certificate.
Professional engineer and Managing Director of Fabasoft, Karl Mayrhofer, delivered a presentation on the key characteristics of a European Cloud: Certified end-to-end security from the user’s machine to the Cloud computer center; data storage in Europe; secure Cloud access via digital identities; creative scope for the diverse range of European languages, nations, jurisdictions and cultural areas; how standards affect interoperability and mobile users with tablets and smartphones.
Dr. Gerhard Laga, Head of the E-Center at the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO), reported on the WKO’s new “Social Media Guidelines 3.0”. Those guidelines provide companies with specific guidance on how they can open up the world of social media to their staff. The WKO is already using Fabasoft’s Folio Cloud for the overall future development of its Guidelines and for preparing events.
Attorneys-at-law, Mag. Martin Schiefer and Mag. Ralf Blaha, showcased the new EuroCloud Austria manual “Cloud Services – Public Procurement”, which is aimed, in particular, at contracting bodies in public administration who wish to carry out tender procedures for Cloud services.
Peter Ploiner, engineer and Head of the Cloud Enabling working group at EuroCloud Austria, mentioned the EuroCloud Austria Award, which will be presented at the 2012 EuroCloud Day on May 23.
