DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dublin - Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/c66545aa/2011_united_states) has announced the addition of Frost & Sullivan's new report "2011 United States Security in Retail Overview: Physical Security and Building Technologies Focus" to their offering.
The Present and the Future of Physical Security and Building Technologies in Retail
The majority of retailers are either somewhat familiar or very familiar with all of the surveyed physical security and building technologies. As many as twothirds of retailers are very familiar with video surveillance systems (the best result), while less than half are familiar with cloud-based systems for security management. These results are not surprising because video surveillance technologies are well established within the market, while cloud systems are relatively new.
Given the retail environment, it is not surprising that shoplifting, robbery, employee theft, and organized retail crime are the major challenges retailers face. However, other risks, such as unauthorized entry and loss of confidential information, also pose challenges.
Of the physical security and building technologies surveyed, keypads, analog video surveillance, and card readers have the highest share of usage. It is hardly surprising, as access control solutions are necessary for any business operation, while analog video surveillance is one of the longest-used technology within the market.
