‘Want’ Announces Key Retailer Partnerships

Merchants – from apparel to music to lifestyle brands, and more – add “Want” button, calling it a ‘must-have’ for e-commerce

DETROIT--()--Want, a new way for retailers to turn social interest and product curation into e-commerce purchase transactions, announced today several key retailer partnerships, including Acer Computers, Calico Corners, Ritz Camera and Tommy Bahama.

The Detroit-based company is the original provider of the universal “Want” button for retailers to add to their websites, allowing consumers to instantly create “Want lists” of goods they intend to buy. As products are clicked on and added to these Want lists, inbound links are generated from Wanttt.com to the retailer’s product details pages, positively impacting organic search. Products can be instantly shared on Facebook’s Timeline, generating new exposure and traffic for retailers, and retailers also have the ability to send targeted messages to their Wanters, helping to generate more sales.

In addition to the above brands, Want continues to add a host of other partners to its roster daily, including musician sites such as Christina Perri, LMFAO, Trey Songz and Wiz Khalifa. Apparel merchants such as Ron Jon Surf Shop and Shabby Apple have also added the Want button and are seeing great results.

Unlike invitation-only sites, individual retailer wish lists, or sites that curate “dream purchases,” Want allows retailers to gain insight into purchase intent better than a Facebook “Like” or any other action available. Not only do “Wants” and the creation of Want lists help shoppers keep better track of what they want in one single, convenient location, but it also improves viral sharing, allowing merchants to more relevantly interact with consumers and convert wishful browsing into transactions at a higher rate than ever before.

Supporting quotes:

  • Greg Links, vice president of business development for Want: “Adding the Want button is the quickest, easiest thing a retailer can do right now that will positively impact their site. With virtually no development time involved, no added cost, plus instant access to Facebook’s Open Graph 2.0, the Want button should be at the top of every e-commerce director’s priority list; if it’s not, they are missing valuable sales opportunities every day.”
  • Lisa Atwood, vice president of e-commerce, Tommy Bahama: “Shopping is an inherently social experience, yet retailers have been hard-pressed to harness the collective desires of their fan communities. We are a lifestyle brand with a passionate following, and the Want button is an ideal tool for us and our shoppers, alike. Not only can they easily and accurately express and share intent around our products, but we can also gain additional exposure via Facebook and Wanttt.com.”
  • Barbara Marcoon, marketing manager for CalicoCorners - Calico Home: “Existing social sites allow consumers to share inspiration, but their usefulness to retailers often stops there; Want, however, is great because it is a buying expression, which hasn’t been available until now. We have already seen sales conversion success with the Want button, and we look forward to leveraging it further to develop stronger relationships with our shoppers and incite them to act.”
