BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Harvard Business School (HBS) will kick off the first session of its highly regarded Owner/President Management (OPM) program on May 13. OPM consists of three, three-weeklong sessions held over the course of three years and provides forward-looking business owners and entrepreneurs with the skills, tools and networks to address the unique challenges their companies face and become more effective leaders.
“Today’s business owners and entrepreneurs must learn to thrive in an increasingly competitive and complex marketplace,” said David Yoffie, Max and Doris Starr Professor of International Business Administration and Senior Associate Dean and Chair of Executive Education. “Leaders must develop long-term goals, encourage investment and assess their company’s position among competitors, all while balancing a very demanding schedule.”
“The Owner/President Management program is an opportunity to step away from the daily demands of running a business and focus on long-term success,” said Yoffie.
OPM, ideal for CEOs, COOs, presidents and executives who hold a significant equity stake in their firms, will examine a broad range of topics, from finance management to negotiation to global markets, all to help talented executives and leaders strengthen their businesses fundamentals, while identifying and seizing opportunities for growth. Working alongside a group of peers and renowned HBS faculty, participants will master the ability to build strategic consensus, adapt leadership to confront challenges, evaluate strategic options, foster cooperation among business functions and assess the competitive environment for market success.
“The Owner/President Management program has an innovative curriculum that emphasizes best practices for analyzing opportunity, leading growth and planning future transitions,” said Josh Lerner, Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking and faculty chair of OPM. “This rigorous program has proven to provide an exceptional return-on-investment for both leaders and their businesses. Every facet of the program, from the participant selection to the on-campus setting, has been designed to provide a transformative and engaging experience.”
Participants of OPM will be fully immersed in the academic setting, with mandatory on-campus residency and classes held on-site six days a week, typically lasting 14 hours each day. The program will emphasize dynamic discussions and relationship-building through carefully designed small learning teams to provide a range of experiences and talents. OPM is rooted in the HBS case study method, small group discussions and lectures to encourage constructive feedback and professional development.
