Applied BioCode Licenses Barcoded Magnetic Beads Technology to Douglas Scientific for High Throughput AgBio Testing

Douglas Scientific will Combine its Array Tape™ with Barcoded Magnetic Beads for High Volume Nucleic Acid Tests

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.--()--Applied BioCode announced today that it has signed a license agreement for its Barcoded Magnetic Bead (BMB) technology with Alexandria, Minnesota based Douglas Scientific.

This non-exclusive license will give Douglas Scientific access to specific Applied BioCode BMB patents for the development of an ultra high throughput automation platform for use in various agricultural biotechnology applications. The targeted solution will utilize Douglas Scientific’s Array Tape™ technology in conjunction with Applied BioCode's Barcoded Magnetic Beads for highly multiplexed assay capability. The instrument system will be capable of reading an entire 384 well plate, providing up to 9,600 results in less than three minutes.

“We are very pleased to partner with Douglas Scientific. The combination of Douglas Scientific’s Array Tape™ with our Barcoded Magnetic Beads will provide a powerful nucleic acid testing platform for high volume agriculture companies,” said Jerry McLaughlin, CEO of Applied BioCode. “We are confident that our license agreement with Douglas Scientific will be a valuable addition to Applied BioCode in the global commercialization of our Barcoded Magnetic Bead technology for future bio-discovery and IVD applications.” Barcoded Magnetic Beads are a next generation digital multiplexing technology, which can simultaneously test for up to 4,096 targets from the same sample.

Further terms of the license agreement were not immediately available.
