NORWELL, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bluestone Energy Services, LLC, a division of OpTerra Energy and a leader in energy conservation engineering and project development services for industrial and commercial clients, announced today that a comprehensive energy project it completed on behalf of The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has been recognized as the Best Multi-site Retail Energy Program in New England by the Association of Energy Engineers New England (AEENE).
For the project, Bluestone Energy’s Supermarket Division implemented a range of comprehensive energy improvements - including installing electronically-commutated motors (ECMs) and replacing lighting fixtures with energy-efficient LEDs - at multiple grocery stores and distribution warehouses. Over a four-year period, the project saved 46 million kilowatt hours while securing four million dollars in local utility incentives. On average, each improvement’s energy savings paid back its investment in less than two years.
Additionally, in 2011 Bluestone Energy completed two parking lot lighting retrofits for Stop & Shop. The first retrofit consisted of installing new LED heads. The second retrofit included the installation of high efficiency electronic metal-halide ballasts and lamps that are configured to dim automatically during the off hours of the night.
“We at Bluestone Energy are honored to receive this distinction from the AEENE for our work on behalf of Stop & Shop,” said Ryan Blair, Director of Bluestone Energy’s Supermarket Division. “Bluestone Energy is committed to providing commercial and non-profit organizations with comprehensive, turnkey energy conservation solutions that reduce carbon footprint while providing a solid return on investment.”
