TAITRA: Taipei Cycle is Open to the General Public on March 10

TAIPEI, Taiwan--()--Taipei, March 9, 2012: After 4,247 int’l visitors visited and made purchases on the first day of Taipei Cycle, there were still crowds in the exhibition on March 8, with a record of 1,380 int’l buyers. In just two days the show has attracted a record 5,627 Int’l visitors, which is an increase of 13.6%.

Consistent with the global green trend, a major topic of the Taiwan Power Forum held yesterday focused on the international market of electric two-wheel scooters, a battery exchange system, the safety standards of lithium-ion battery, and fire-control measures. Today, issues such as the national subsidy program for electric scooters, TES-tests, battery exchange system, and safety standards were discussed. More than 300 people participated in this forum.

The “Welcoming Press Conference for the Tour de Taiwan”, hosted by the TAITRA’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Walter M. S. Yeh, welcomes 21 elite cycling teams from across the globe. These elite cyclists are testing the 5 products that won the gold prizes of “TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards”, which are Giant, FAIRLY, KMC, Kenda, and Ke Chiuan. Of all cyclists, the most celebrated players from Tour de France — including Ferrari Roberto from Italy’s professional cycling team, who is well-known for his racing prowess, the 22-year-old Artur Ershov, a promising upcoming key player from Russia’s national team, Downing Dean from Britain, the winner for the single-station Tour de Taiwan 2010, and Dirk Muller, the well-rounded cyclist and winner of the 2006 German Cycling National Championship against a good number of elite cyclists from Tour de France — will surely be the focus of the cameras today.

During their visit at the show ground, the elite cyclists indicate that they are amazed by all the products in the show, not only because Taiwan is the center of manufacturing high-end bicycles, but also because life in Taipei will become enjoyable and convenient after the completion of the Taipei MRT lines.

Another highlight in the show is the “Beyond the limits, leap across twenty five” BMX performance at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Hall. World-record BMX biker Allen Cooke, holder of the world-record 54-foot backflip, is invited to challenge the world record for leaping across 25 bicycles and other difficult leap shows together with the 2010 Asian extreme sports champion, Cheng Chiao-Hung. Through these performances, a new level of innovation and design for Taiwan bicycles will be fully demonstrated.

Moreover, there are also performances by domestic fixed-gear bicycle (FIXIE) elites and Garman player Ines Brunn at the south side of the exhibition hall. People who are interested are welcome to see the performances and experience the charm of BMX.

Taipei Cycle is going to begin its fourth day and will also open to the general public who can buy tickets to enter the venues. To celebrate the 25th anniversary, TAIPIE CYCLE Show has presented a limited edition cycling bag, which uses water resistance fabric, durable TPU plastic, bungee cord for holding helmet or jacket. People and buyers who are interested can take the MRT Nangang-Banqiao Line and Wenshan-Neihu Line. If you would like to experience excellence of Taiwan bicycles, this annual event is something you cannot miss.
