ILF Consulting Engineers Awarded Contract for Solar Park of Superlatives in Dubai

MUNICH--()--With the award of the contract for the design of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, ILF Beratende Ingenieure GmbH has received a significant large-scale assignment for an international solar project. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that the engineering company from Munich together with its branch office in Abu Dhabi asserted itself successfully against numerous international competitors.

The entire solar project will cost approx. 2.4 billion EUR and comprises an area of 48 square kilometres. The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Prime Minister of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is thus initiating the construction of a solar park of superlatives with CSP/PV technology. The overall goal of the developers is reaching a capacity of 1,000 MW by the year 2030. This is to cover at least 5% of the energy demand of the United Arab Emirates. The first project will see the construction of a 10 MW photovoltaic power plant, which is to be connected to the grid in mid 2013. The construction works are scheduled to begin in 2012. With this construction project, the United Arab Emirates put their focus on a promising diversified energy mix. The implementation of a sustainable energy development is an important vision of the future-oriented Dubai.

“We will be working on this project from the study for the entire 1,000 MW solar park with CSP/PV technologies to the tender design, the site supervision, the start-up and the acceptance test for the 10 MW photovoltaic power plant,” states Bernhard Lässer, Managing Director of ILF in Munich. It is one of ILF’s core competences to provide one-stop-shop solutions for design and management services. “Due to our international experiences we are very confident that we will successfully complete this project. This puts us in a very good position for further challenging assignments,” says Mr Lässer. Once again ILF shows its high degree of professional competence in outstanding international projects for energy and climate protection.
