AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Multimedia Games, Inc. (“Multimedia Games”), a leading provider of slot tournament systems, has launched TournEvent® of Champions™, a first-of-its-kind statewide slot tournament at 11 casinos in California. The competition will bring together slot players from participating casino properties across California and is powered by Multimedia Games’ award-winning TournEvent® slot tournament system. Final qualifying rounds at the participating casinos (see full list below) are scheduled between March 3 and April 14, with 13 players moving on to the final championship round. The contest will culminate with a championship round on May 27, 2012 on board Celebrity Cruises’ Millennium Wine Tour Cruise.
The final qualifying rounds follow multiple pre-qualifying rounds at the participating casinos, which began in January and whittled down thousands of contestants to the approximately 300 top contenders at each property. The 13 championship round participants will be awarded a 5-night cruise on board Celebrity’s Millennium Wine Tour Cruise from San Diego to Vancouver, departing May 27, 2012, including associated accommodations, roundtrip airfare and a $200 on-ship casino credit for themselves and one guest. Aboard the ship, one winner will be crowned champion during the TournEvent of Champions championship round. The grand prize winner will walk away with statewide bragging rights and $20,000. A second place prize of $3,000 and third place prize of $2,000 will also be awarded during the championship round.
“Through unprecedented collaboration between Multimedia Games, participating casino properties and Celebrity Cruises, we are creating an entirely new experience for slot players,” said Patrick Ramsey, Multimedia Games’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe the universal enthusiasm and excitement demonstrated by the thousands of early round players is indicative of the response TournEvent of Champions competitions can generate in other regions. Given the broad geographic range of our TournEvent system installations to date, and our expectations for continued growth in the number of casinos featuring TournEvent, we are very excited about the potential for future state-wide and larger scale tournaments.”
