KISTA, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:
Kitchen and bathroom manufacturer Ballingslöv AB is commissioning Proact (STO:PACT) to implement a new infrastructure and virtualise the company’s Swedish IT environment. Disaster recovery is also being implemented to enhance the security of the organisation. This project began in December 2011 and is expected to be completed in March 2012.
Ballingslöv AB, one of the leading Nordic manufacturers of kitchens, bathrooms and storage solutions, has commissioned Proact to virtualise the company’s Swedish IT system and enhance security within the system.
This new infrastructure means that Ballingslöv is making a switch from 55 physical to just six virtual servers. The existing data volume being transferred from the old system will also be compressed to about 50 per cent of its original size using deduplication technology.
“Our objective for the project has been to enhance efficiency, uptime and security in our IT environment as this controls many of our most important production processes.
The solution developed by Proact now gives us full redundancy in the system and comprehensive disaster recovery. And as well as having a secure IT environment, we are also significantly reducing our energy consumption,” says Gert Franzén, Head of IT at Ballingslöv AB.
In addition to a fully virtualised infrastructure, Proact will be implementing a disaster recovery solution. This disaster recovery is based on synchronised data mirroring, automatic snapshot monitoring of the system and a full backup to a secondary disk solution. This means that if anything unexpected disrupts the system, all data is secure and available without interruption.
“The infrastructure and security solution which we are supplying is compliant with Ballingslöv’s zero tolerance of stoppages and data loss. Safe in this knowledge, Ballingslöv will be able to focus on their core business and not have to worry about potential data loss or production downtime,” says Martin Ödman, Regional Manager at Proact.
The Proact solution for Ballingslöv AB includes servers, switches and VMware virtualisation software. Snap products from NetApp are used for mirroring and backup.
