TAINAN, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--South Taiwan Alliance for Research Ethics kicked off officially at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, on February 21, expecting to integrate the resources among southern universities and promote research ethics on human subjects.
With the support from the National Science Council of the Executive Yuan, NCKU as one of the three headquarters of research ethics in Taiwan will be able to provide consulting services, promote the cooperation among southern universities, and facilitate the researchers to conduct academic studies without violating the human rights, according to Dr. Hwung-Hweng Hwung, President of NCKU.
The northern and the central alliances were established recently and the southern alliance forms the biggest lineup, noted Ching-Feng Chang, vice chairman of national science council, who is delighted to visit the beautiful campus of NCKU.
Taken the bottom-up approach to communicate with allied schools, NCKU has successfully recruited up to 49 universities to sign the cooperation agreement while the north Taiwan alliance consists of 24 universities and the central alliance, 35, said Hua Tai, director of research center for humanities and social sciences NCKU.
A cooperation agreement on research ethics was signed on the occasion.
Within the governance framework of research ethics, NCKU research ethics committee has been promoting the research plan of the research of human behaviors and human ethics with an aim to protect the rights, safety, dignity and well-being of research participants.
