NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Early data from the LinkShare network points to shoppers buying Valentine’s Day gifts earlier than previous years. Flowers, jewelry and beauty all saw sharp same-store sales growth.
“We’re seeing strong category growth as expected for Valentine’s Day related products and shoppers continue to start buying earlier than previous years,” said Alex Czurylo, senior director of reporting and analytics for LinkShare. “Those advertisers and publishers that were ready with their promotions at least two weeks out had the most to gain from this trend.”

Flowers, Jewelry, Beauty
Week-over-week trends in the LinkShare Affiliate Marketing Network:
- Shoppers began to think about Valentine’s Day with purchases in flowers, jewelry, beauty spiking the week prior.
- Flowers showed a steady increase in sales all month, getting sharper nearer the holiday
- Flower sales continued to rise over the weekend prior to Valentine’s Day, where beauty and jewelry sales peaked.
- The LinkShare network saw a 401% increase in jewelry sales on February 6 compared to the prior week.
- There was a 143% increase in beauty sales on February 8 over the week prior.
