UC Irvine Election Law Expert Richard Hasen to Deliver Feb. 13 Lecture on “The Voting Wars”

IRVINE, Calif.--()--UC Irvine School of Law will present a lecture by election law expert Prof. Rick Hasen on his upcoming book, “The Voting Wars.”

WHEN: Monday, Feb. 13, 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

WHAT: Prof. Hasen, a nationally recognized expert on election law, will lecture on the subject of his new book, "The Voting Wars: From Florida 2000 to the Next Election Meltdown," to be published this summer by Yale University Press. The book explores why nearly a dozen years after the controversial 2000 U.S. presidential election, the problems with how we run our elections are still not fixed. He argues that we are just one razor-thin presidential election away from chaos and an undermining of the rule of law.

WHO: Prof. Hasen blogs on his Election Law Blog, which is often quoted by the national media, and has written more than four dozen articles on election law. He also co-authored a leading casebook on election law, and was founding co-editor of the quarterly Election Law Journal. The lecture celebrates his newly endowed Chancellor’s Chair, given only to a small number of faculty across the UC Irvine campus.

WHERE: UC Irvine School of Law, 401 East Peltason Drive, Irvine, CA 92697, Room EDU 1111. Directions and parking information, http://www.law.uci.edu/directions.html

REGISTRATION: The lecture is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow. Please RSVP online, https://ucisl.ejoinme.org/MyEvents/ChancellorsChairLecturebyProfRickHasen/tabid/339346/Default.aspx
