BERWYN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vertex Inc., the leading provider of corporate enterprise tax solutions, today announced that Cathy Kiselyak Austin has joined the company as its General Counsel. Ms. Austin comes to Vertex with more than 30 years of experience in legal and business issues in the technology industry, involving complex information systems, outsourcing, content development, and Web based platforms, as well as ERP licensing, implementation and hosting and privacy and security issues.
Prior to joining Vertex, Ms. Austin served as a Partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. Her practice included counseling U.S. and international clients on information technology and Internet-related issues, as well as the protection and commercialization of intellectual property rights. Ms. Austin’s recent work includes a $500 million outsourced hosting transaction, three ERP replacement projects for multi-billion dollar international companies, and an $8 million outsourced ERP support transaction involving locations in 25 countries.
Ms. Austin will oversee all legal matters for Vertex and provide legal counsel to the company on U.S. and international development, acquisition and operation of technology, compliance, and the protection of intellectual property rights.

Ms. Austin received her J.D. from Yale Law School and her Bachelor of Science degree in Management, with a minor in Computer Science, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also attended the Heinrich Hertz Gymnasium in Bonn, Germany, where she earned her Abitur, and is fluent in English and German and proficient in French.
Ms. Austin has been ranked by Chambers USA in Technology & Outsourcing since 2008 and has been listed in the Leading Lawyers Network since 2004 as a Leading Lawyer in Computer and Technology Law.
