OSAKA, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Panasonic Corporation (NYSE:PC)(TOKYO:6752)("Panasonic") today announced that it will invite media to a joint press conference between UNESCO and Panasonic for providing the latest activities of its Strategic Partnership, to promote sustainable development through World Heritage conservation and environmental education for the next generation.
Panasonic will also host the award ceremony of its "Eco Picture Diary Global Contest 2011" the corporate project aiming to raise awareness of the environmental issues among the youth, with about 30 children of final nominated diary, world judges, and representatives from Panasonic and UNESCO, at UNESCO headquarters. This program has started in 2008, and expanded to include approximately 130,000 children from 37 countries and regions in 2011. The representatives of around 30 country winners are scheduled to participate to the international ceremony at the compound of UNESCO.
The 17 awards will be given at the ceremony, including the "World Heritage Eco Learning Program Award" related to the Panasonic's unique hands-on environmental education activity "World Heritage Eco Learning Program" which was started in corporation with UNESCO and World Heritage Sites, involving 4000 children in two years.
