CAPE TOWN, South Africa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MiX Telematics (JSE:MIX), a global leader in vehicle tracking and fleet
management solutions, extends its innovative MiX
Mobile suite of smartphone applications to its broad base of Fleet
Manager (FM) customers with the new MiX Fleet iPhone application. MiX
Fleet is now available for iOS in English, German, Dutch, Italian,
French, Spanish and Chinese and versions for Android and Blackberry will
soon be published. In the near future, customers will also be able to
track and monitor their fleets using tablets such as the iPad and
Samsung Galaxy Tab. MiX Fleet is perfectly suited to smartphone and
tablet technology and brings vehicle tracking right to fleet operators’
fingertips.
“Extending MiX Mobile to include support for FM
customers is a significant milestone for MiX Telematics as we now have a
complete range of mobile apps,” says Charles Tasker, Managing Director
of MiX Telematics (International), adding, “Practically, it means that
irrespective of which MiX Telematics onboard computer our customers have
installed, they can now track their vehicles using a smartphone if they
wish to do so.”
In late 2009, MiX Telematics was the first in
the fleet telematics industry to release a vehicle tracking application
for the iPhone – back then for its XDrive, FM Protector and MiX 3000
customers. This was followed by mobile apps for MiX DriveTime, MiX Track
and Matrix Internet Tracking. The fact that it is now available for its
FM customers means that their base of hundreds of thousands of connected
vehicles can now be conveniently tracked and monitored via smartphones.
Fleet
customers who are registered users of FM-Web will automatically have
access to MiX Fleet, using their usual username and password. FM-Web is
MiX Telematics’ premiere web-based service for commercial fleet
operators.
MiX Fleet mobile provides real convenience to
customers, allowing them to keep track of their assets wherever they
are. Customers can immediately determine the current status of their
vehicles, tracking them as they are moving or locating them while
stationary. Historical trip summaries and the plotting of these trips on
a map represent additional features that make it easier for customers to
manage their fleets while on the go.
