Heidi Golledge, CEO and co-founder of CyberCoders says, “We were very intrigued by the findings, especially the fact that Houston beat San Jose for new technology job growth in 2011. Houston has always been a city rich in energy jobs, but we are now seeing that the demand for new and clean energy has helped fuel the growth in Houston’s tech sector as well.”

Houston’s high demand tech jobs include .NET developers, Sharepoint developers, and process engineers. In addition to technical jobs, this city also saw an increase in support positions including business analysts, administrative assistant positions and financial analysts. The growth of technology jobs also has a positive impact in other careers as well, as seen by CyberCoders latest data.

“The increase in technology jobs in these cities is expected to maintain and even accelerate as the economy improves. At CyberCoders, we have not only expanded our own tech hiring, but also opened offices in cities like New York to meet the growing needs of our technology clients,” says Matt Miller, CTO of CyberCoders.

With a 100 percent increase in technology jobs from 2010 to 2011, San Jose -- home to tech giants like Adobe, Yahoo and many others -- is No. 2 on CyberCoders’ list. San Jose’s Silicon Valley has long reigned supreme as a city for technology jobs. Jobs in demand include: Java developers, software engineers, C++ developers, and QA engineers to name a few.

Ranking third is Philadelphia – a city that is not always synonymous with technology jobs. The fourth largest city in America, Philadelphia has seen a large increase in technology jobs year-over-year in particular Java developers, software engineers and network engineers.

Golledge of CyberCoders, “There is no doubt that technology continues to reign as one of the leading industries in job growth nationwide. CyberCoders’ latest data indicates the cities leading the way are providing career opportunities for a variety of technology careers -- promising news for jobseekers and employers.”
