Powin Energy Launches Scalable Energy Storage System at EMEX

EMEX 2011

TUALATIN, Ore.--()--Powin Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Powin Corporation (OTCBB:PWON), has launched its new line of scalable and affordable energy storage solution products for the residential, commercial, industrial and utility markets. The company showcased its new proprietary energy storage system at EMEX, the nation’s largest trade show for emergency management personnel. This year’s EMEX show was attended by more than 2000 representatives of corporations, state, local and federal government agencies, and military personnel involved in disaster planning.

Some of the applications that appealed to show attendees include:

-Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to back up computer and communication systems

-Continually renewable energy source for satellite phones, emergency lighting, mobile hospitals and temporary shelters

-Mobile and modular energy storage systems for local government agencies during power grid outages

-Scalable backup power for Commercial and Industrial parks, both in the U.S. and in China

-Utility grade energy storage for solar and wind farms

-Failsafe backup power for gas powered generators, even those powering large installations such as those provided by FEMA.

Powin Energy’s storage system relies on the company’s unique LiFePO4 battery technology. Using Powin’s proprietary software, the system can be remotely controlled and monitored via the Web. The battery management system is integrated into each battery pack for ease of configuration.

The Powin Energy system is scalable, with a modular design that provides flexibility in load and storage capacity. It is also highly reliable, incorporating features such as over- and under-voltage protection, over-current protection, short-circuit protection and high/low temperature protection. The Powin Energy system can be easily incorporated into existing power systems, for example as a lead acid battery replacement.
