VALHALLA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SOMS Technologies LLC announced today that it has entered into an agreement through its national distribution partner, MOBILE Installation Technologies, LLC, with TUG Technologies Corporation (TUG) whereby TUG will be the exclusive supplier of the microGreen Extended Performance Oil Filter to the airline and air cargo industries. TUG is also extending its recommended oil drain intervals for all new TUG vehicles by 6 times when using the microGreen filter. This will provide TUG’s current and future customers the opportunity to reduce oil maintenance costs by up to 65%, while reducing oil consumption by 70% and reducing filter usage by 50%. It is expected that a typical major air carrier will save in excess of $1,000,000 in oil maintenance costs while reducing its CO2 emissions by over 750,000 lbs. TUG will also be offering the microGreen filter through its TUG airport maintenance shops and as a customer installed option for new equipment.
“We are extremely excited to partner with microGreen and to be able to provide our customers with this great value. We have significant testing data to substantiate the recommended extended drains on TUG vehicles, as well as other GSE vehicles,” said Dennis Couch, Vice President Parts, TUG Technologies Corporation. “TUG has always been known as a leader in embracing and implementing new technologies to help our customers. This technology reduces energy use, maintenance costs and helps preserve the environment.”
“As with many of our customers, we have been working with TUG and several of their customers to validate the breakthrough technology of our microGreen filter. The technology has been proven through extensive oil analysis,” said Camilla Dennison, CEO of SOMS Technologies. “We are excited to work with TUG to bring the microGreen filter, and its values, to the airline and air cargo industries.”
The microGreen Extended Performance Oil Filter is a spin-on filter that fits most light vehicles, as well as fleet classes 1-6. It has been proven through extensive laboratory and on-road testing to reduce oil maintenance costs by 65 percent, decrease the use of motor oil by 70 percent, and reduce the number of filter changes by 50 percent. Independent analysis has verified that using the microGreen filter reduces CO2 emissions by 19.79 lbs per gallon of oil saved. The microGreen oil filter helps protect the environment and decrease the usage of oil and natural resources.
Designed as two-filters-in-one, the microGreen filter looks and installs like a traditional spin-on oil filter; however, its unique filtration system includes a patented microfilter that captures particles down to 2 microns in size. Traditional oil filters using paper filtration typically filter down to 25 – 40 microns. The double filtration of the microGreen filter keeps the oil cleaner and maintains the additive package, allowing vehicles to extend the use of motor oil up to 30,000 miles.
About SOMS Technologies LLC
SOMS (Spin-On Microfilter System™) Technologies has pioneered the most significant breakthrough in engine oil filtration technology since the early 1970s. The microGreen® Extended Performance Oil Filter significantly reduces maintenance costs for both individual vehicles and fleets, and protects our environment by eliminating hazardous waste and decreasing dependence on natural resources. The microGreen oil filter combines two-filters-in-one to provide clean technology that dramatically improves filtration efficiency by allowing vehicles to operate up to eight times the standard change interval without a change of engine oil. The microGreen oil filter has been overwhelmingly accepted by leading national and local fleets as a way to reduce costs associated with oil changes and protect the environment. The microGreen filter is protected by two U.S. patents and has additional U.S. and international patents pending. The company is headquartered in Valhalla, N.Y.
