DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crazy Dave AKA Cray-Z, the tin pot hat wearing, trunk-o-the-car shopkeeper from PopCap Games’ best-selling videogame Plants vs. Zombies™, is taking on the X Factor to vie for the coveted Number 1 chart slot this Christmas with the release of his first hip-hop single Wabby Wabbo. PopCap will be donating all PopCap® proceeds earned from the track sales between December 15th and December 22th 2011 to Concern Worldwide.
Signed to the Ded Jam label, Crazy Dave, AKA Cray-Z, has already racked up more than 465,000 views of his music video for Wabby Wabbo on YouTube. And, with almost 5.5 million followers of the Plants vs. Zombies Facebook page, and a legion of Zombie fans throughout the world, the zombie factor may well take the X Factor winner by surprise and push them to the number two slot come Christmas chart judgement day on December 23rd.
Crazy Dave has effectively taken the hip-hop rule book, covered it with ketchup, eaten it whole and come up with a whole new take on the genre. Wabby Wabbo is a ‘unique’ hip-hop track that has the effect of getting stuck in your brain and refusing to leave for weeks. Another first, Wabbo Wabbo is believed to be the first hip-hop single ever released to feature a yodelling solo by a Yeti zombie.
The Wabby Wabbo single is available now at http://itunes.apple.com/ie/album/plants-vs.-zombies-wabby-wabbo/id483153999 for €0.99. Crazy Dave has asked for fans to purchase the track between December 15th and December 22nd so all sales will count against the Christmas chart rankings.
“Concern Worldwide are thrilled to be named as the charity partners of the Plants vs. Zombies single this Christmas. We’re always open to new ways to raise funds for and awareness of our work. What could be better than this brilliant game?”, said Richard Dixon, Director of Public Affairs for the organisation, who finally cleared level 4.5 last night.
*After partner fees and other third-party operating costs are deducted, approximately 70 cents of each 99 cent purchase will be delivered to Concern Worldwide.
