A Memorable Eric Roberts in Satyricon Pictures' "Silver Case" Debut at the Rome Film Festival

LOS ANGELES--()--Oscar nominee Eric Roberts' performance in the independent hit "Silver Case" has being described as good as in the classic "The Pope of Greenwich Village." The debut feature by award winning Italian filmmaker Christian Filippella (AFI, Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia) had its world preview screening at the last International Rome Film Festival. After a special screening in the Bahamas, "Silver Case" was just awarded the Independent Spirit Award and the Merit Award at the 26th Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. Eric Roberts, who has starred in cult movies and box office hits like "The Dark Knight" and "The Expendables," describes Filippella as an actor's director and "Silver Case" as one of the most original and fun films he has worked on.

The film, produced by Satyricon Pictures, stars an international cast including Academy Award Nominees Eric Roberts (Runaway Train) and Seymour Cassel (Faces), Shalim Ortiz (Heroes), Brian Keith Gamble (The Keeper), Claire Falconer, Stanley Herman (Black Swan), Vincent De Paul, Fernanda Romero (The Eye), Kelvin Han Yee (Lucky You) and Art Hsu (Crank High Voltage). The entire cast pulls an incredible performance that has been highly praised by film critiques and moviegoers alike.

"The market is evolving very fast. This new digital era has created a vast uncharted promise land of possibilities with regards to filmmaking. Technology has changed the artistic landscape and has given directors like myself an opportunity to make films that only a few years ago would have been impossible," Filippella said during his Q/A. "The cheaper one can make a film, without sacrificing one's vision of course, the better. This philosophy is the true spirit of independent filmmaking."

"Silver Case" is a satirical crime comedy set in Hollywood, which centers around two former film producing partners, Senator (Eric Roberts) and Master (Brad Light). Now arch enemies, Senator and Master scheme to destroy one another but do not anticipate the antics of two thugs, Barabba (Gamble) and Caesar (Facey) to foil their plans.

"Silver Case," written by Christian Filippella & Jason A. White, is a highly stylized film in dialogue, set design, pacing and cinematography. Inspired by classic Italian films of the 60's and 70's, the film uses these modalities to create an edgy, unpredictable tale of avarice and the self-indulgent quest for power.
