NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Paratek announced today that it was selected by Red Herring as a finalist for their 2011 Red Herring Top Global 100 award.
Paratek has established itself as the market leader in tunable RF solutions for wireless mobile devices since receiving the Red Herring Top North America 100 Award in June, 2011. Several major wireless OEMs have incorporated Paratek’s RF tuning solution ¹ in their smart phones and tablets dramatically improving data rates, reducing dropped calls and significantly improving the mobile user experience.
As the insatiable growth of wireless devices continues unabated, there is a clear transition from feature phones used primarily for voice calls to smartphones used primarily for data applications and web-access. This trend creates tremendous challenges for the handset manufacturer; they must produce elegant phones that can support as many as 11 frequency bands, 4 modes of operation and operate under a plethora of use cases. The Paratek RF tuning solution helps them overcome these challenges enabling them to produce smart phones with faster data rates, fewer dropped calls, longer battery life and a much richer mobile experience for the consumer.
In the most recent quarter, Q3 2011, total worldwide sales of mobile devices totaled 440.5 million units. Smartphone sales reached 115 million units, up 42% from the third quarter of 2010. Smartphone sales accounted for 26% of all mobile phone sales. ²
Red Herring’s Top Global 100 list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.
"We are very excited to be selected as a finalist for the Red Herring Global 100 award. Paratek's rapid ascent during 2011 has established us as the defacto standard for tunable RF. In the months and years ahead major OEM's will continue to adopt the technology helping major operators like AT&T (NYSE: T) , Verizon (NYSE: VZ), Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) & Telefonica (NYSE: TEF) increase the throughput of the devices used on their network. Consumers will ultimately benefit by experiencing a desktop type experience using their mobile devices" said Thomas Lambalot, Chief Commercial Officer for Paratek.
