NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ForwardThink Group, one of the fastest-growing management and IT consultancies in the NYC area, has formalized its compliance and risk offerings for the financial services industry. The company has hired Alan Morley, a 17-year industry veteran with a broad portfolio of domestic and international experience, to lead the practice.
This announcement comes at a time when the financial services industry is struggling to keep up with new and upcoming government regulations, from Dodd-Frank and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act in the U.S., to Basel III in Europe. Since its inception, ForwardThink has established itself as an extremely knowledgeable and trusted source of information on compliance and regulatory issues, and has worked with some of the largest banks and financial institutions in the world.
With the move to hire Alan Morley, the company will enhance its compliance and risk practice, offering its customers end-to-end solutions, including business operations impact assessment, business services requirements definition, development of IT solution architecture, vendor selection and complete program and project management through to end-user implementation and adoption.
“Compliance and risk management are intense hot buttons for companies in the financial services industry,” said Morley. “Banks, insurance companies, wealth management and capital markets firms have to be diligent about compliance issues and addressing regulatory directives, while remaining vigilant about operational, credit and IT risk. ForwardThink has already positioned itself as a trusted resource, and has developed repeatable processes to ensure that the business issues are properly understood, allowing the best technology for the job to be implemented in the right way, and at the right price.”
Morley has extensive experience across international financial services regulatory and risk management, from both a corporate leadership and consulting perspective. Prior to joining ForwardThink, Morley held positions at several major compliance consultancies, including Adsideo, which he founded in 2009, and Sapient, where he grew the company’s consulting services. Additionally, Morley spent some years at JP Morgan Chase as the managing director of the company’s legal and compliance technologies group. He started his career at Capgemini in the UK, rising to become Director of e-Business at the onset of the internet era.
“Alan’s background in both compliance and the financial services industry, and his practical perspective on implementing cost-effective solutions, made him a perfect fit to head up our compliance and risk team,” said Nick Trentalange, chief operating officer at ForwardThink. “The issues surrounding compliance and risk are mushrooming as we speak. Dealing with an increasingly challenging regulatory environment has become one of the most common issues we’re seeing in the organizations we work with. By expanding our expertise in this area, we’ll be able to better serve both existing and future customers.”
Born and raised in Europe, Morley received his MBA from Cranfield University in the UK, and his bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and Social Administration from the University of Surrey. He was a Faculty Lecturer at Columbia University’s School of Continuing Education from 2000 to 2008.
