Women in Defense Honors ManTech’s Muge Cody

Leader of MRAP Maintenance Program Cited for Achievements in Supply Chain Development

FAIRFAX, Va.--()--The Women in Defense (WID) Michigan Chapter has awarded Muge Cody of ManTech International Corporation (NASDAQ: MANT) its 2011 Horizon Industry Award in Supply Chain Development.

Cody is vice president of ground systems operations for ManTech’s Technical Services Group, responsible for providing logistics and sustainment services support for U.S. Army TACOM-managed Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected Family of Vehicles (MRAP FOV) operations in Southwest Asia. She oversees multiple logistics and maintenance operations for more than 10 regions and 50 forward operating bases in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq.

Cody received the award at the WID-Michigan Black Tie Gala on Nov. 4 in Rochester, Mich. She was cited for a number of accomplishments, including leading a complex effort to shift support and supply chain management from Iraq to Afghanistan and the U.S. She also worked with the government to establish a program to improve supply chain and maintenance efforts and introduce those innovations to the theater of operations. The supply chain management innovations resulting from this program have yielded substantial cost savings and avoidance for the government.

“As a leader Muge Cody instills an expectation for excellence,” said Louis M. Addeo, president and chief operating officer of ManTech’s Technical Services Group. “Her people consistently demonstrate superior performance and exceptional dedication to the customer’s mission. We are extremely fortunate to have Muge on the ManTech team.”

Cody has led ManTech’s TACOM MRAP FOV logistics and sustainment programs, based out of Chantilly, Va., and Warren, Mich., for six years. She has been instrumental in embracing the Joint Program Office MRAP universal fleet sustainment concept. She implemented a program in which all MRAP FOV variants are maintained by a universal workforce capable of providing capability insertion and every level of troubleshooting and maintenance on each MRAP and Route Clearance Vehicle variant in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“Nothing is more gratifying to us as a company than our ability to help keep our troops safe,” said ManTech Chairman and Chief Executive Officer George J. Pedersen. “We are able to do that because of the work of dedicated people like Muge Cody who make sure that the equipment our troops depend on to carry out their missions is available when they need it. It’s an enormous undertaking to properly support thousands of sophisticated vehicles like MRAPs in wartime, and we are honored to have the challenge.”

In accepting the award, Cody singled out the importance of teamwork in effective supply chain management. “As government demands increased, we structured teams around growing requirements,” she said. “The supply chain management team was one of them. Because of the demanding nature of our contracts, we had to think, decide, implement rapidly and strive for excellence the first time. Today our organizational structure, with our robust supply chain management, supports our troops nearly effortlessly.”

The WID Michigan Chapter established the Horizon Industry Awards in 2009 to recognize defense and national security professionals who distinguish themselves in their field and help their organizations achieve critical business objectives and goals. Winners are announced each year at the WID-Michigan Black Tie Gala.
