TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WinMagic® (www.winmagic.com), the prominent innovator in disk encryption, has been named as a data security supplier for the United States Army Golden Master (AGM) program. WinMagic’s SecureDoc full-disk encryption (FDE) software will protect all data at rest for the United States Army and its customers purchasing a Mac for use on LandWarNET, the U.S. Army’s portion of the global information grid (GIG) which consists of all globally-interconnected, end-to-end Army information capabilities supporting war fighters, policy makers, and support personnel.
The United States Army is the second largest employer in the nation, with 2.3 million Active, Guard and Reserve personnel as well as 1.8 million civilian government employees. The AGM program authorizes hardware and software for purchase by Army customers through the Computer Hardware and Enterprise Software and Service (CHESS) contracts, such as ADMC-2 and ITES-2, in an attempt to standardize the hardware and software that is being procured for use on the Army’s LandWarNET. Now, all Army customers purchasing a Mac for use on LandWarNET will be expected to protect all data at rest with WinMagic’s SecureDoc FDE software.
“WinMagic is extremely proud to be named as a data security supplier for the U.S. Army Golden Master program,” said Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO, WinMagic Inc. “WinMagic has always been an encryption innovation leader, and has been working with U.S. government agencies for many years to provide enterprise-class data protection for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms that is both administrator and user friendly. In fact, WinMagic’s innovations have been responsible for eliminating many of the traditional barriers to data protection by making it just as easy to deploy, manage and use encrypted devices as unencrypted devices.”
SecureDoc offers even further flexibility when it comes to dealing with the security of information on Macs by offering two strategic differentiators: Removable Media Encryption (RME) which enables both Mac and Windows users to share information securely between devices, and pre-boot networking PBConnex (http://www.winmagic.com/products/pbconnex), which provides administrators with the ability to leverage network connectivity for pre-boot authentication to reduce administration costs, increase security and simplify the end user’s experience.
